On the Record: Coaches Speak About Walton Going into this Tate Game

I am really excited at how our football players played this past Friday Night. Of course, there are always things we can clean up, but their energy and focus was where it needed to be. We played a really clean game without penalties and turnovers and it showed. We emphasized all week to 'take care of us and don't let us beat ourselves'. I thought the team really did well and executed just like we planned. Charles Benson had an outbreak game for

the offense which means the offensive line executed really well. I saw really good blocking

on our perimeter as well. Our defense stood firm and often played a 'bend but don't break' mentality on Friday, only giving up one score. Special teams did  really well highlighting Izaiya Rolle going 5/5 on extra points.

We will go on the road to Cantonment this week and try to get another win going in to a bye week. This win will be huge for us and then we will have the bye week afterwards to allow us time to get back healthy for part 2 of the season. This will include our two biggest matchups for our district weeks. We must take it one game at a time: starting with Tate.

Offensive Line Coach, D. Gardner

The offensive line's performance was nothing short of dominant (Walton game), as they controlled the line of scrimmage from start to finish. Their great technique was on full display with every snap, showcasing a masterclass in footwork, hand placement, and leverage. The seamless execution of their blocks created gaping holes for the running backs and provided a pristine pocket for the quarterback. This unit's cohesive power and disciplined approach neutralized the opposition's defensive front, leading

to a relentless and unstoppable offensive attack. They were a true catalyst to the offense's success, setting the tone for a commanding victory.

Receivers Coach, J. Dampson

This past Friday, our receiver group did an outstanding job despite not having many receptions or yards. Senior Javon Capell had one reception for 10 yards, and Junior Dane

Elliot had one reception for 5 yards. Their most significant contribution came in the running game, where they blocked very well on the perimeter. The receivers even had several pancake blocks that freed up our running backs for more yardage and several touchdowns. We definitely pride ourselves in being able to block effectively during practice, and it pays off during game time. As a philosophy, we take what the defense gives us, so some games will

allow for more passing than others. Against Walton, we were able to also get our receivers touches in the run game with Cappell scoring on a 10 yard touchdown pitch from QB Xavier Finley. The great aspect of our receiving corps is that they are unselfish and willing to do what it takes to help the team win.

Defensive Line Coach, R. Myrick

Defense putting pressure & pushing back

We had a great Friday night vs Walton. Our D Line played fast and physical all night. We executed the game plan and played with great focus. We were able to help in the run game while also getting pressure in the passing game. At times we bent but never broke, it was a great defensive effort all night. Moving forward we need to continue to work hard and execute at a high level, making sure we correct all of the little things. In planning this week, we put our heads down and worked in preparation for a good Tate football team and a

good Tate O line.
